Malachi 3:19-20 2 Thessalonians 3:7-12. Luke 21:5- 19
Malachi speaks of the day of justice. This reading simply serves as an encouragement to us in order to continue patiently in good works.
2 Thessalonians-Paul urges the community to follow his example and to earn their keep, namely, no work, no food.
The Gospel of the second to the last Sunday of the liturgical year is the classic text on the end of the world, also, trust in God.Jesus predicts the destruction of the temple in Jerusalem and warns his followers that persecution will come before the end time. Take a piece of black paper put a tiny hole in the middle - Put the paper over a picture of a nice landscape and what do you see? Sometimes when we have difficult days, feelings like sadness and fear can narrow our focus so that all we see or feel are hard things. It might be hard to trust that God, is with us, caring for us, on theses hard days. Take away the black paper- Jesus reminds us of the bigger picture - that God is always watching over us, in good times and hard times. We can trust that God cares for us always.
To love- Do I pray for all who are persecuted for their faith today?
To serve - Lord Jesus, give me confidence when I face my adversaries.
